The Sugar Pine Foundation will be planting rust-resistant saplings in Tahoe Donner on April 21 and May 4. They are looking for volunteers. The details are below:
Date: April 21
Time: 9:00 am
Location: Near the Oberwald curve.
This is a memorial planting to Robert Koechlin, with seedlings paid for by donations in his honor. The planting will be led by Brad Smith, a resident of Tahoe Donner.
Date: May 4
Time: 10:00 am
Location: The new Forestry Facility at the end of Teton Way.
This planting will be led by Maria Mircheva, Executive Director of the Sugar Pine Foundation.
The Sugar Pine Foundation will provide equipment, but extra shovels always prove handy. If you have one, feel free to bring it along.
Please be sure to wear sunscreen. You will also want to bring a hat, gloves, plenty of water, and some snacks.
We do not currently have a public email address for these events. So if you plant to attend, please send an email to TDtrails@gmail.com. We will forward your RSVP to the correct people.
Tree plantings are quite a lot of fun. Whole families can get involved, and I encourage everyone to lend a hand.
